Linux overlays not staying in front of the game

Different Linux distributions come with different versions of desktop/window managers which treat the overlay windows differently. If your overlay windows aren't always staying on top of the game, try some of these options:

KDE and similar

  1. Open System Settings > Window Management > Window Rules
  2. Click Add New...  at the top right of the window.
  3. Click Detect Window Properties (A selection tool appears and you will want to click the TOR HUD window)
  4. If the Add property to the rule modal does not pop up, click the + Add Property... button.
  5. Scroll down and select Layer or search for it in the search box.
  6. Change the layer from Normal  or Desktop to Overlay and make sure it's also set to Force
  7. Click Apply
It should look like this

Your TOR HUD overlay will sit over any fullscreen application including SWTOR. Feel free to minimize the TOR HUD control panel otherwise it will show over any applications as well.
